Carpooling Service: the SNCF facilitates door-to-door, on-the-go mobility

Train operator SNCF provides a synergistic carpooling service that allows users to organise their travels and free up space in parking lots located at city outskirts

SNCF R&D hired Attoma to design a dynamic carpooling service that allows travellers to organise their car journeys via a system of car-sharing.

Attoma identified the service touchpoints along the client's route, and designed a customer experience based on the interaction between a mobile web service and terminals located in the train stations. Customers can check carpooling offers by using Flash codes, which are scanned with a cell phone. This then allows passengers to connect with drivers and vice-versa to arrange for carpools.

For this project, Attoma designed interfaces for different screens, the service's overall identity and the carpooling service terminals.

During Sustainable Mobility Week in 2011, SNCF Proximités launched an experimental carpooling service in the Houdan train station on Line N (Ile de France network).
